I have worked in drug and alcohol treatment for 15 years both in a Non-Profit and in Private Practice settings. I have my Masters in Counseling Psychology and am Licensed through (CCAPP) California Consortium of Addiction Programs and Professionals. I am a member of CCAPP and The National Association of Addiction Professionals, NAADAC.
Drug and alcohol abuse does not happen in a bubble; an individual’s addiction affects everyone they come into contact with and everyone affects the addict. As a Recovery Counselor, I am available to help everyone involved who are willing to begin looking at possibilities for change. I have extensive experience working with adolescents, adults and families who have been affected by addiction.
I utilize many different treatment approaches including; CBT, Solution Focused, and DBT therapies which have a, reality based model. This means that as we explore the many struggles that addiction brings to individuals and families. I also provide Sandtray and Expressive Arts therapies, that offer an organic and holistic approach to addiction. After a confidential assessment, I can help you identify the level of addiction intervention that my work best for you. When you have successfully completed formal substance abuse treatment, you will leave with a structured discharge and relapse prevention plan. However, it is often discovered that after leaving treatment its hard to follow through with that plan on our own and a lack of ongoing case management, is a common cause for relapse.
I will provide you with structured support to assist you in your ongoing recovery. I will help you to follow your recommended discharge plan, create a new plan as your lifestyle needs change and suggest community resources to assist as you move forward on your recovery path.
Addiction and Substance Dependency doesn’t happen in a bubble – we are all affected by each other’s behaviors and choices. Its important that recovery happen in an integrated system where everyone contributes to healthy changes as well as obtains the individual support they need.
I will work with you and your family to help you integrate back in as an active member and teach them how to support you in your ongoing recovery. We will meet regularly to address the immediate life crisis and emotional reactions that would normally trigger a return to old behaviors and addictions.
